ST. PETERSBURG, FL – On Tuesday, April 28, the International People’s Democratic Uhuru Movement held a press conference about why the organization supports the people’s resistance in Baltimore and the significance of the current wave of protests against police violence throughout the U.S.

Omali Yeshitela, Chairman of the African People’s Socialist Party and of the Black is Back Coalition for Social Justice, Peace and Reparations, answered reporter questions. Leaders of the Uhuru Movement also discussed St. Pete police chief Anthony Holloway’s approach to a civilian review board versus genuine black community control of the police.
