We have always said that nothing leaves Africa peacefully. In the last 600 years, there has been no genuine trade or cooperation between Africa and the rest of the world, particularly with Europe.
There is a human life cost for every extraction of our labor and natural resources by parasitic capitalist companies in Africa and throughout African communities around the world, which is not recognized in the price of merchandise in the capitalist market.
All wars observed between Africans in the context of these 600 years have been wars to facilitate the looting and domination of the majority of Africans by the treacherous minority of illegitimate rulers.
The narrative put out there has been one that obscures the responsibility of white oppressors and beneficiaries for all wars that occurred between African people. The preferred line of white bourgeois media is to tout centuries, if not millennia, of tribal wars and hatred between black people. Such stupidity is repeated to this day to explain the aspect of imperialist violence inside Africa.
All violence in Africa is an expression of imperialist domination; from hunger violence, poverty violence, state violence, ignorance violence, inhuman working colonial conditions violence etc.
It is these conditions that create the basis for horizontal violence amongst our people, who instead of uniting to fight the oppressors, waste energy by misdirecting their anger at one another, which lets the true oppressor off the hook.
After a combination of Mobutu’s rule and Joseph Kabila’s rule set the precedent, today the situation in what is referred to as the Democratic Republic of Congo is catastrophic. The Bloody Republic of Congo would be a more suitable name, as daily experiences speak of a vast and horrific situation, a human tragedy of unimaginable proportion. In all corners of the country, we have been the recipients of unspeakable terror and general disaster.
In the Great Lakes Region, we have regimes that came into power during the genocide wars. These are regimes who “ethnicized” and antagonized ethnic differences in order to justify genocide.
Museveni introduced neocolonial genocide in the region
We want to expose the role Yoweri Kaguta Museveni played personally in institutionalizing the genocidal culture in the Great Lakes Region.
“A Brilliant Genocide” is a documentary that gives a glimpse of Museveni’s sustained genocidal rule of terror against the Acholi peoples in northern Uganda since his arrival to power.
This documentary is the untold story of a people who were placed in veritable concentration camps, where, according to the World Health Organization (WHO), the death rates from planned neglect exceeded 50,000 people per year over more than a decade.
“A Brilliant Genocide” is a counterpoint to Kony 2012, which brought worldwide attention to the crimes committed by the LRA [Lord’s Resistance Army]. It shows how the Museveni regime used Kony as a straw man, enabling the Ugandan government to garner international sympathy and resources in the supposed ‘war on terrorism,’ while in fact diverting attention from its own crimes against humanity in northern Uganda.”
Museveni a master of deceit to cover up his crimes
To hide his genocidal regime and his support of the Tutsi petty bourgeoisie’s aggression of the Rwandan government, led by Juvenal Habyarimana from Hutu petty bourgeoisie, from the eyes of African people, Museveni organized the 7th PAC in April 1994 in Kampala. This was enough to cover for the war against Rwanda that lasted from 1990 to 1994.
Many Pan-Africanists joined Museveni’s regime’s opportunist project, while the Museveni himself was busy assisting the U.S. project of seizing power in Rwanda with the Rwandan patriotic front led by Kagame. This Tutsi political military organization was born inside Museveni’s Ugandan army and participated in a U.S and UK sponsored project that seized power in Uganda in 1986.
One could say it was a Ugandan army invading Rwanda as most of the senior and junior commanders were Rwandan refugees who grew up in Uganda after their parents were forced to flee the ethnic violence created by Belgian rule in Rwanda in 1959.
BF Bankie, a Pan-Africanist from Namibia, reacted to Museveni’s treacherous act: “It was its aftermath which was unacceptable, because without informing us, the window dressing of the Congress, Museveni, Otafiire and others launched a military campaign to ‘unify’ central Africa, reaching into Zaire (as DRC was then called).
“They used the Congress to kick-off a grand campaign. They should have told us. In the last few hours of the Congress, president Museveni told us that the plane had crashed, killing the presidents, and made his apologies for absenting himself from the Closing Ceremony.”
The shooting of the presidential plane that precipitated the Rwandan genocide
Museveni’s regime had unrestricted support from the U.S government, since he was a key U.S ally, needed to back the SPLA in pursuit of the U.S. destabilization and partition of Sudan.
Museveni knew his Movement of National Resistance could massacre African peasants in northern Uganda with impunity; the western press and governments would stay absolutely silent.
We still remember how Bill Clinton, the U.S. president at the time, bragged about how the likes of Museveni and Kagame represented a new type of African leadership.
Africans all over the world were in deep shock to discover this level of neocolonial violence with the Rwandan genocide in April 1994. Many experts and informed believed the shooting down of the plane carrying out two Hutu presidents, Rwanda’s Juvenal Habyarimana and Burundi’s Cyprian Ntayamira, sparked the genocide.The white press blamed Hutu extremists for shooting down the plane. This was not the case, as more evidence and information that later came to light show. There was no good guy in this war as both sides were neocolonialist forces fighting for neocolonialist victory.
This is what Boutros-Ghali, then the UN general secretary, said of the lack of investigation into the shooting that killed these two presidents: “It is a very mysterious scandal. Four reports have been made on Rwanda: the French Parliament Report, the Belgian Senate Report, Kofi Annan’s UN report, and the Organization of African Unity report. All four say absolutely nothing about the shooting down of the Rwandan president’s plane. That just goes to show the power of the intelligence services that can force people to be quiet.”
We also know the missiles used to down that plane were of Russian origin, who sold them to Museveni’s Ugandan army, that backed Kagame’s war in Rwanda. According to Patrick Mbeko and Honore Ngbanda in their new book “Strategie du Chaos.” They wrote: “Russia’s justice system cooperated in providing the identification number of missiles SAM 16 used in gunning down the presidential plane.”
In order to understand the genocide in Congo, it is essential to first understand the genocide in Rwanda; the interconnection is profound. Museveni’s arrival to power in Uganda and Kagame’s rise in Rwanda have opened up a new politic of sustained mass murder that is reminiscent of the Belgian King Leopold II.
Kagame and Museveni do not believe in taking political prisoners. Exterminating their opponents, even if they are not antagonistic, is the only answer to solve contradictions.
There cannot be peace or democracy when genocidal rulers are in power in the great lake region in Africa.
