POP concludes 381 days of demonstrations with powerful mobilization!

On Wednesday, July 11, 2012, the People’s Organization for Progress (POP) concluded its 381 consecutive days of protest in Newark, NJ with a rally and march.

The Daily People's Campaign for Jobs, Peace, Equality and Justice aimed to take on various public policies from economic policies that target the African community to colonial wars carried out by the U.S. government both in the U.S. and around the world.

Hundreds gathered in front of the Essex County Court House in Newark on this final day of the campaign. Amongst the progressive organizations and individuals was the Black is Back Coalition for Social Justice, Peace and Reparations.

After hearing statements from several representatives from organizations such as the NAACP, the Newark Teachers Association, New Caucus of Newark Education Workers and representatives from several workers unions, the crowd marched down Market Street with placards, banners and chants being led by POP Chairman Lawrence Hamm.

The Black is Back Coalition salutes the People's Organization for Progress for their outstanding political work. A commitment and dedication worthy of emulation.

We also uphold the leadership of Chairman Lawrence Hamm, a tireless organizer who has consistently answered the call when it comes to the issues that affect the African community.

Power to the people!
