On Saturday, May 29th, African Socialist International Chairman Omali Yeshitela will speak in Atlanta, GA at the "National Black Power Convention 2010", the theme of which is "State of Emergency: Our Survival is at Stake". During the day, Chairman Omali will speak on a panel entitled, "Pan-Africanism and the International Struggle". In the evening, he will speak at the "Mass Leadership Rally".
Initiated by the New Black Panther Party, the 4-day event is being convened by Attorney Malik Zulu Shabazz and Minister Hashim A Nzinga. The Convention organizers have written that, "Africa and Black Peoples worldwide are threatened with extinction if the right decisions are not made by this generation of leadership. If we do not see the handwriting on the wall and organize like never before we will certainly be destroyed."
In addition to Chairman Omali Yeshitela, scheduled speakers at the Convention include Councilman Chokwe Lumumba (NAPO), Dr. Leonard Jeffries (CUNY), Njeri Alghanee (N'COBRA), Professor Griff (Public Enemy), Warren Ballentine (radio host), Pam Africa (MOVE), Dhoruba Bin Wahad, Chairman Kofi Taharka (NBUF), Minister Louis Farrakhan (Nation of Islam), Janice Mathis (Rainbow PUSH), and representatives of the Malcolm X Grassroots Movement, December 12th Movement, Southern Christion Leadership Conference, and the National Action Network.
