St. Petersburg, FL––Three dozen Members of the Uhuru Movement gathered in front of St. Petersburg’s City Hall to attend the Mural Committee meeting being held on July 19, 2016.
We attended the meeting because the city's Mural Committee is planning to replace the mural that was torn down from the Pinellas County courthouse in 1966 by Omali Yeshitela, founder of the Uhuru Movement and Chairman of the African People’s Socialist Party (APSP), without any input from him or the Movement he founded

CALIFORNIA––A judge's decision to give a white college student at Stanford University named Brock Turner a six-month slap-on-the-wrist jail sentence for an act of sexual violence has brought to the surface the ugly culture of rape and violence endemic in white society.
The case makes clear that as far as white society goes, Brock Turner is not an abnormality, but just a white boy who got caught in the act, and for many white people, that’s the real tragedy of the story.

BATON ROUGE—Three Baton Rouge cops were killed and three more injured, one critically, on Sunday morning of July 17, 2016.
The person that the cops say was responsible for the shooting was an African man named Cosmo Ausar Setepenra. Ruling class media still calls Cosmo by his birth name, Gavin Eugene Long.
Cosmo was martyred by Baton Rouge cops, but not before first taking out three of theirs.
The incident started at about 8:40 a.m. EST. Baton Rouge cops received a call that a man wearing all black and wearing a black ski mask was walking alongside a road while carrying an assault rifle.
Two minutes later, the pigs made contact with the African man that we now know to be Cosmo. It was then that the shootout began.
NEW YORK—Ramsey Orta, the 24-year-old man who videotaped the murder of Eric Garner by NYPD, will now be serving a 4-year prison sentence.
Ramsey has been hounded and harassed by NYPD ever since he recorded them choking Eric Garner to death on July 17, 2014.
The terrible impact that slavery has had on the continent of Africa cannot be calculated: the destruction of magnificent civilizations, the break-up of family and kinship circles, the massive depopulation, forced impoverishment, famine and starvation, the ravishing of an environment which had been so conducive to human civilization for millennia. From open, educated, prosperous and democratic societies, African people now lived in sheer terror, never knowing when their village or town would be raided for human loot by these white invaders.
