Readers of The Spear may notice a change on the page that displays the members of the Central Committee of the African People’s Socialist Party (APSP), the body which leads the Party between its congresses. Comrade Diop Olugbala, who was the Party’s Representative of the Northeast Region of the U.S., has been removed from this position. He was removed for his participation in social contradictions that have the capacity to demoralize and undermine the image of the Party.

Currently, Comrade Diop has indicated his willingness to become a member in good standing and has committed himself to a process of rectifying his relationship with the Party.

The Central Committee recognizes that in this time of deep and profound crisis in imperialism, this crisis affects every aspect of society. It understands that this crisis even intrudes in the lives of members of the Party, as was reflected in the behavior of Comrade Diop.

The Central Committee and the African People’s Socialist Party are committed to resolving these contradictions in the best interest of the Party, the African masses we represent and our revolution.
