The day started at 8 am with the flag raising. This was followed by the daily assembly from SG Gaida!
This days workshops were all provided by Secretary General Luwezi Kinshasa.
The first workshop starting at 9 am, was about The Haitian revolution. Haiti was very insightful and appreciated by the participants.
This was proven by the many questions at the end of the workshop.
One comrade said: ” I thought i understood the Haitian revolution, but now i understand it on another level hearing it from an African Internationalist point of view, which makes sense."
We learned alot about Jean – Jacques Dessalines and his significant role in the liberation of Africans in Haiti and his contribution to other National liberation movements, i. e in South America.
And very significant was the historical and present, relationship, between Haiti and France and the imperial world. How Haiti literally fed France for hundreds of years.
This was followed by a short break.
At 10:40 am the workshop was about Revolutions in Kenya, South Africa, Zimbawe and Congo.
One of the most discussed topics was the Mau Mau. As African Internationalist many participants have heard about the Mau Mau in Kenya already.
However what I think was shocking to many people was Mau Maus’ organizational structure, which is very similar to what we call Democratic Centralism today, and their high level of organizational capacity and political maturity.
We usually don't hear much about the actual organization of the Mau Mau. Officially, Mau Mau was the Kenya Land and Freedom Army.
SG Luwezi always brings analysis and science to everything. The participants left this day with a totally new understanding of the significance and power of our history and struggle.
Later on in the day the units had community organizing in the form of outreach in St pete which was followed by a summation.
At 5:30 pm we had the flag retrieval.
