Reparations

The African People’s Socialist Party defined the role of white people in our struggle for African liberation

The question of the relationship and role of white people in history and in the struggle for socialism and African liberation is one that has long plagued our movement.

African people have a bloody history with the white population. White people have historically functioned as arms of the oppressive colonial state against us, motivated to do so by the reward of colonial booty, elevated social relevance and a putrid ideology arising from a vicious social system based on genocide, slavery and colonialism.

White people have created in the African world conflicting responses that run the gamut of hatred, awe, fear, servile obedience, permanent suspicion and unrelenting resistance.

20-year-old black woman runs for St. Petersburg, Florida City Council candidate on platform of reparations and black community control of the police

On Monday, March 6, 2017, 20-year-old Eritha “Akilé” Cainion threw her hat into the race to become the next councilperson for District 6 in St. Petersburg. She made the announcement while standing in front of the recently shutdown St. Petersburg, Florida Walmart with her proud parents and a group of enthusiastic supporters.

“I am 20 years old and for all these 20 years I have lived in this city, specifically in this neighborhood. In all these 20 years, the St. Petersburg city government has done nothing but work against the black community. I have entered this election because the black community is and has been under assault by the leaders of this city,” declared Akilé.

Victories on the African economic front! Your commitment makes it possible!

The African People’s Socialist Party’s Africans One Billion Strong Donor Campaign (AOBS) is collective investment in our own African future based on a foundation of political and economic power over our lives. Every African around the world should participate because the future of our people depends on our ability to have an economy that is primarily designed to take care of black people first and foremost.

Trump, white workers and the road to socialism

U.S. President-elect Donald J. Trump was propelled to victory largely by the support of “non-college educated” white workers. This popular upsurge has been described as “the revenge of the white working class” by the Washington Post.

The Wall Street Journal marveled at the rise of a “Trumpen-proletariat” who were eager to follow behind the self-defined “blue collar billionaire” on his quest to restore America to greatness.

To understand this phenomenon and the way forward, let us begin by looking at the nature and origins of capitalism itself.

Safety pins won’t make America safe for African people

The Uhuru Solidarity Movement salutes all of the white people who are motivated to action by the line drawn in the sand by the Trump election. We salute all the North Americans who are moved to take a visible stand on the side of solidarity with African, Indigenous and other oppressed peoples in face of the threats to them by Trump's white nationalist mandate.

The rising African Revolution, however, is calling on white people to take very specific actions to stand in solidarity with African people.  It does not include wearing a safety pin

Ramsey Orta sentenced to four years in prison; statement from Ramsey’s wife, Jessica Orta

Ramsey Orta, 24, filmed the police murder of Eric Garner in Staten Island on July 17, 2014. Eric was choked to death by murderous cop Daniel Pantaleo, with the backing of a gang of police. While murderous pig Pantaleo was placed on administrative leave and never charged for murdering Eric, Ramsey was endlessly tormented and targeted by the occupying military force in retaliation. Ramsey was sentenced to four years in prison on trumped-up charges.

Ramsey Orta is one of our newest political prisoners. He is in prison as a result of being targeted by the colonial State after standing up to police. The Burning Spear stands in complete solidarity with brother Ramsey and are clear when we say that Africans and other colonized people have the right to resist our colonial oppression!

The following is a statement from Ramsey Orta's wife, Jessica Orta, to The Burning Spear newspaper:

"As I sit here with thoughts swirling around in my head about the corrupt police system that we have and the hateful organizations they're modeled after, I cringe."
