Black is Back Coalition (BIB)

The Black Community Control of Police (BCCP) working group of the Black is Back Coalition (BIBC) organized a march and rally for Black Community Control of the Police in Philadelphia, PA on Saturday, June 24th.

The mobilization was entitled “Pigs in Our Hood Aint No Good—March on Ridge Ave!”

The rally was held at the community lot on 24th St and Cecil B Moore Ave deep within the oppressed and exploited North Philadelphia section of the city.

This lot was recently liberated by the Coalition, as we took initiative to clean up the trash from the grounds and decorate the wall with the red, black and green flag.

Several other organizations and collectives joined the BIBC, including the Philadelphia REAL Justice, RBG Fridays, Philly Socialists and others, some of whom made solidarity statements during the rally and other points of the mobilization.

The Black is Back Coalition for Social Justice, Peace and Reparations (BIB) is holding our Annual Conference at Chicago State University on August 12 and 13, 2017. The theme of the conference is “The Ballot and the Bullet: Elections, War and peace in the era of Donald Trump.”

The theme of our Conference contains within it the critical matters of this period that must be addressed to move our struggle for black liberation forward.

On April 8th and 9th, the Black is Back Coalition for Social Justice, Peace and Reparations will conduct an electoral campaign school for African activists who want to open up a new front for the struggle for self-determination in the U.S.

Lynne Stewart, the militant lawyer who went up against U.S. state power to defend African, Arab and other oppressed nation activists, died March 7 in New York.

Stewart was 77 and is survived by her husband, Ralph Poynter, a member of the Black is Back Coalition.

After serving 4 years of a 10-year sentence as a political prisoner, Stewart was released from prison in December 2013 as a result of popular pressure on the government in the face of breast cancer that was terminal.

The Black Is Back Coalition for Social Justice, Peace and Reparations, condemns the assassination of unarmed African woman Emilsen Manyoma, a freedom organizer for African liberation in Colombia, by cowardly Colombian paramilitary State thugs on January 17, 2017.

We hold comrade Emilsen Manyoma in high esteem. She is an African martyr; she was murdered because of her courage, and willingness to fight for African national liberation against parasitic corporations.

The Black Is Back Coalition for Social Justice, Peace and Reparations (BIBC) held its Rally for Self-determination January 14, 2017 at Howard University. The Rally came on the heels of the National Black Political Agenda for Self-determination Convention that was held November 5 through November 6, 2016 in Washington D.C.

While many organizations and individual leaders such as Al Sharpton held marches and rallies throughout the weekend were doing so in response to the election of Donald Trump, the Coalition recognizes that there is a need for black self-determination despite who sits in the white people’s house.

Thousands of black people will descend on the U.S. capital in Washington, D.C. on January 14, 2017, one day before the anniversary of the birth of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and six days before the inauguration of Donald Trump as the 45th president of the United States.

We will rally for self-determination and declare to the world that, despite the rise of Donald Trump and his version of white nationalism, Black is Back! And we have our own National Black Political Agenda for Self-determination that we will fight for regardless of which political party or individual occupies the White House.

The African People’s Socialist Party has never had any illusions about the ability of the electoral process to provide freedom, justice or progress for our people, especially the African working class population of the U.S. and the world.

 This is why we were prepared when Donald Trump became the 45th president of the United States in an upset victory over Hilary Clinton, the flag-bearer of the Democratic party of Barack Hussein Obama.

Washington, DC—In a powerful display of African unity, African people from all over the United States convened in Washington D.C. on November 5th for the National Black Political Agenda for Self-Determination Convention.

Led by the Black is Back Coalition for Social Justice, Peace, and Reparations (BIB), the gathering of the black community––which included mothers whose children have been murdered by police and white vigilantes, members of various organization, and other brothers and sisters––convened at Malcolm X Park at noon.

The purpose of our gathering was to discuss our 19-point Black People’s Agenda, which speaks to many of the pressing issues affecting our communities, from the position of black women to climate change.
