The narrative was permanently transformed by the demand that reparations and economic development to the African community be the centerfold of city policy, along with black community control of police and an end to gentrification that pushes the African working class out of the city in the face of massive real estate speculation on the part of big money developers.

It was a brilliant strategy to have African People’s Solidarity Committee member and chair of the Uhuru Solidarity Movement Jesse Nevel run for mayor as a white man galvanizing other white people around reparations as the central demand.

Today, social media has become inevitable in imperial politics, with many capitalist politicians and ruling-class political parties using it as an inexpensive and immensely influential tool for colonial propaganda.

It was the mission of Akilé and Jesse’s social media team to use social media to forward the people’s candidates and to win the masses to a platform that represented the interest of the African Working Class.

The 2017 Committee to Elect Akilé (Cainion) Anai for District 6 city councilwoman and Jesse Nevel for mayor of St. Petersburg, FL was led by the African People’s Socialist Party and made up of youthful forces powered by the slogans “Unity through Reparations!” and “Radical Times; Radical Solutions!”

For six months, from early March through August 29, the joint campaign committee was a powerhouse of energy, enthusiasm and commitment waging an outstanding ground war to elect the dynamic young candidates who excited the African working class to come out and vote for their own interests for the first time ever.

The African People’s Socialist Party’s campaign for Akilé Anai (formerly Eritha Cainion) for District 6 city council and Jesse Nevel for mayor of St. Petersburg, FL this year was a six-month decorum-shattering, cadre-building, history-making mobilization of the masses of the people.

Between our announcements to run in March and election day on August 29, our daily work included work on the streets among the masses of the people, disruption of status-quo debates, fisticuffs, laughs, exuberant demonstrations, battles with the bourgeois media, social media wars and recruitment of amazing new Comrades in the process of breaking up the status quo and forcing the interests of the African working class onto St. Petersburg’s electoral agenda.

Three weeks after Hurricane Maria’s September 16, 2017 devastating landing on the Caribbean island of Puerto Rico, causing the destruction of its fragile colonialist infrastructure, the people are still dying, there is no electrical grid, and food, water and medicine are trickling down to the people at a snail’s pace.

Sometimes when our allies are under extreme attack, especially from the lead white nation colonizer (U.S. imperialism), a “Big Lie” narrative is often put forward for the purpose of creating a pretext for making war against the colonized.

Oftentimes, the colonized are surrounded and the people of the world are inundated by bourgeoisie media and can’t always speak for themselves. Therefore, it is the responsibility of the African revolutionary internationalists to speak in support of the oppressed and to defend and support their revolutionary aspirations.

In this instance the African Socialist International (ASI) stands in unwavering solidarity with the toiling workers, peasants, workers party and leadership of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.

With bullhorn and banners in hand, on Saturday July 8, militant protesters marched on the spot where Houston cops murdered 38-year-old Alva Braziel on July 9, 2016.

It was a one year anniversary resistance march and rally.

For the second time in three months, a white people’s grand jury in Harris County, Houston, Texas has no-billed two cops: L. Lopez and E. Macias.

These pigs pumped fourteen bullets into the body of Alva Braziel while his hands were up.

Some of those shots hit the 38-year-old black father while he lay on the ground mortally wounded.

Nevertheless, the pigs still handcuffed him.

Back in March and again on July 29, 2017, prosecutor Kim Ogg, the new female pro-death penalty district attorney presented to grand juries cases she knew would not win indictments.

Securing indictments was never the intent.

Reinforcing the colonial relationship that Africans have to the State is always the unstated goal of unindicted police murderers.

The violence that erupted in opposition to this The Group of Twenty (G20) forum which took place on Friday, July 7th and Saturday July 8th 7 in Hamburg, Germany made headlines in most national news broadcasted around the world.

A fire broke out in the Grenfell Tower, a 24-storey building located in West London on the early morning of Tuesday June 14, 2017 at about 1am.

The fire spread extremely quickly, engulfing the entire building in a matter of 15 minutes and condemning its inhabitants to a certain death.

The infamous building, demonized by both the government and the media, was mainly inhabited by poor and working class people from colonized places in Africa, Syria, the Caribbean, South Asia and elsewhere, along with poor white workers.

We united with all the demands from victims of this colonial mayhem, such as to be rehoused in the same borough.

We united to charge the Kensington and Chelsea Tenant Management organization KCMO, a subcontractor company that managed the Grenfell Tower on behalf of the Kensington and Chelsea local council–for murders!
