Venida Browder, mother of Kalief Browder, dies at 63; colonialism is to blame
Venida Browder, mother of Kalief Browder, has died at the age of 63 from complications of a heart attack. She passed away at St. Barnabas Hospital on Friday. Colonial media incorrectly attributes her death to "a broken heart." We are clear, however, that colonialism is responsible for the deaths of African people.
Ali Bongo versus Jean Ping: Two loyal neocolonial stooges vie for State power in Gabon
The recent August elections have cut open the French neocolonial contradictions based on sucking the blood of Africans in Gabon for centuries. The highly-contested August 27, 2016 elections between Ai Bongo Ondimba and Jean Ping were an assault on African people’s consciousness and future, particularly the African working class.
Over the weekend, Africans in New York, Washington D.C., Maryland, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Kansas, Texas and Illinois convened in their respective states to adopt the black people’s agenda which consists of a Declaration and 19-points .
Twelve states in all have signed onto the Black Power Agenda (including Florida, Missouri and Alabama) and are organizing Africans throughout their states to the National Black Political Convention.
Our black people’s Agenda was sparked by the historical failure and betrayal of both white ruling class parties to solve what are considered “black people” problems and the uttered uneasiness the present U.S. presidential candidates evoke in the stomach pits of Africans trapped in the U.S.
African people stuck in the U.S. have come to a consensus: we have our own National Black Political Agenda for Self-Determination and will gather on November 5th and 6th in Washington D.C., just days before the white people’s election on November 8th.
African Socialist International (ASI) on Fees Must Fall
The African National Congress (ANC) is a petty bourgeois party that is against African students.
We are in a crisis of imperialism where imperialism is being challenged by the colonized masses all around the world, including in South Africa.
The crisis in South Africa is ripening. It inspires the students.
White power to blame for devastation in Haiti after Hurricane Matthew
Over 850 (and counting) Africans in Haiti lost their lives to Hurricane Matthew—a category four hurricane with sustained winds of 145 mph—on Tuesday, October 4, 2016. Thousands are left homeless.
The hurricane hit Southern Haiti––“Le Sud”––one of Haiti’s ten departments. Cities in the South include Leogane, Petit-Goave, Jeremie and Les Cayes, all of which have been severely damaged by the raging waters. A key bridge in Ti Goave has been destroyed, keeping the most damages parts of southern Haiti isolated.

Ramsey Orta sentenced to four years in prison; statement from Ramsey’s wife, Jessica Orta
Ramsey Orta, 24, filmed the police murder of Eric Garner in Staten Island on July 17, 2014. Eric was choked to death by murderous cop Daniel Pantaleo, with the backing of a gang of police. While murderous pig Pantaleo was placed on administrative leave and never charged for murdering Eric, Ramsey was endlessly tormented and targeted by the occupying military force in retaliation. Ramsey was sentenced to four years in prison on trumped-up charges.
Ramsey Orta is one of our newest political prisoners. He is in prison as a result of being targeted by the colonial State after standing up to police. The Burning Spear stands in complete solidarity with brother Ramsey and are clear when we say that Africans and other colonized people have the right to resist our colonial oppression!
The following is a statement from Ramsey Orta's wife, Jessica Orta, to The Burning Spear newspaper:
"As I sit here with thoughts swirling around in my head about the corrupt police system that we have and the hateful organizations they're modeled after, I cringe."
No confidence in the U.S. government, Democratic or Republican, male or female, white or black!
“No confidence in the U.S. government––Democratic or Republican, male or female, black or white! All power to the people! Black Power to the black community!” and “The people must win power with our own hands: Neither Jesse Jackson nor the Democratic party can bring power to the black working class” - from The Burning Spear newspaper, August 1984.
The words ring true today as they did in 1984 when this statement was made. Africans have no confidence in the U.S. government and only vote out of fear of the “white man’s Republican party” and the notion that Africans died and sacrificed for the right to vote with the perception that there are no other alternatives.
