The Party’s Cadre Intensive School kicks off the new year, uniting our theory with practice

On January 7, 2024, the African People’s Socialist Party (APSP) initiated a virtual Cadre Intensive school for its membership, conducted by the Department of Agitation and Propaganda.

Cadre schools, a long-standing practice of revolutionary organizations, have been conducted by the Party for its over five decades-long existence, training members and mass movement organizers to become the best sons and daughters of Africa, the most competent and capable fighters to win our liberation.

This intensive is being done at a critical time, where an influx of energetic Africans and freedom-loving people are looking to join revolutionary organizations despite not having the benefit of them due to the counterinsurgency defeat of the Black Revolution of the 1960s.

This momentum is spurred by the anti-colonial struggle erupting throughout the world, influenced by the theory of African Internationalism, developed by Chairman Omali Yeshitela, leader and founder of the APSP.

The cadre school trains forces on what it means to be a cadre and member of a vanguard Party. It instructs on deep theoretical questions and their practical implementation. It forwards the study of the Party’s 14-Point Platform, principles of Democratic Centralism, combating liberalism and how to build the Party through structure and mass organizing–with the benefit of real-world experience informing every reading and study guide.

Throughout the world, members of our Party and Movement participate either in group study sessions or from their homes, in the three-hour sessions that take place on Sundays up until March 3. Each session is defined by a well-detailed syllabus that students receive before the intensive starts, and there are various instructors including Chairman Omali Yeshitela, Yejide Orunmila, President of the African National Women’s Organization, Luwezi Kinshasa, Secretary General for the African Socialist International, Matsemela Odom, President of the International People’s Democratic Uhuru Movement, Bakari Olatunji, U.S. Western Regional Representative and veteran of the Party, Aisha Fields, Director for the All African People’s Development and Empowerment Project, and Penny Hess, Chairwoman of the African People’s Solidarity Committee.

Coming out of this intensive, we expect Party leadership to emerge and to create a culture of study and intellectual curiosity among the African working class. Our members will be better prepared to organize in this period of the final offensive, against a desperate and dying social system, towards African liberation and the destruction of the colonial mode of production.
