Africans demand end to colonialism at protest in Washington D.C. at French embassy

On the morning of Saturday, September 2, the Washington, D.C. unit of the African People’s Socialist Party participated in the Niger protest outside of the French Embassy alongside concerned Africans and others to demand that France leave Niger.

The protest started at 10 am during the same time that thousands in Niger gathered to protest outside of the French military base in the Nigerien capital of Niamey. D.C. Nigerien protestors wore military uniforms and army camouflage in support of the military leadership in the country led by Abdourahamane Tchiani who declared a military junta on July 28.

In addition to the Nigerien protestors were Africans from Nigeria, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Senegal, Kenya and the U.S. The main demands were to end colonial occupation, Africa must unite and No to Imperialism, in all of its forms.
