Western Region trains cadres in African Internationalism and self-defense

On November 8-10, the African People’s Socialist Party-USA Western Region conducted our cadre mini-intensive–a mandate from the Party’s Department of Agitation and Propaganda that serves to strengthen and build our Party’s membership.

The mini-intensive was held in San Diego, California, and comrades traveled in from Oakland, Los Angeles, Buena Vista and Orange County to participate.

Over the course of the weekend we engaged with 25 Party members and members of the various Party organizations, such as the African National Women’s Organization (ANWO), the International People’s Democratic Uhuru Movement (InPDUM), the African People’s Solidarity Committee (APSC) and the Uhuru Solidarity Movement (USM).

We also invited and saw the participation from comrades with Union del Barrio and Los Ronderos de las Redes.

The weekend intensive consisted of ideological and practical training in the theory of African Internationalism, covering topics such as: the Party’s history, “An Organization of Organizers”, How to sell The Spear and conduct outreach, the Tactical and Strategic Objectives for Black Liberation and much more.

On Sunday, we put our theory into practice with a community rally that focused on Black Community Defense in the face of the newly released “national security memorandum” by U.S. president Donald J. Trump, that calls for the intensified colonial repression of Africans and colonized people inside this country.

We trained on “Know Your Rights”; “What to do if the FBI Comes Knocking”; InPDUM’s Black Community Control of the Police campaign and ANWO’s Operation Stop CPS. Comrade Juan of Union also provided a workshop on the Community Self-Defense Coalition, which has taken on the ICE raids and detainment of Mexican/Indigenous and Africans throughout the country.

By the end of the intensive, we won two new Party recruits and came out of this process clear on the main contradictions we face as a Region and what is to be done to build the Party out West.

We salute all the members of the Uhuru Movement that organized and participated in this process that is set to happen quarterly, as mandated by the Party’s AgitProp.

Build to win!
