At 4:45pm ET, Diop Olugbala was arrested while riding his bicycle on the South side of St. Petersburg. Witnesses report that Diop turned the corner of 13th Street and 15th Avenue South and was stopped and interrogated by a white female cop. She said he was being detained but would not explain why.

Other members of the Uhuru Movement were alerted and immediately came to the scene, which was three blocks from the Uhuru House. Those members present at the scene demanded to know why Diop was being detained and interrogated. The cops refused to answer.

"The cops arrogantly told Diop to come over to the car. When Diop told the cops to come to him. They came up and grabbed him, pushed him up against the car and arrested him for reasons that are still unknown," said a member of the Uhuru Movement.
