Uhuru 3 legal update: judge hears oral arguments from the attorneys on Motion to Dismiss

On July 17, attorney Leonard Goodman, on behalf of the Uhuru 3 who were indicted in April of this year, filed a Motion to Dismiss the widely denounced, politically motivated charges that Chairman Omali Yeshitela and the Uhuru Movement, who have been fighting for 50 years for reparations to African people, are “Russian agents.”

On August 8, the U.S. prosecutor filed a response and on August 15, attorneys for the Uhuru 3 filed a counterargument to the U.S. government with a request for oral arguments. The judge granted the request and set the hearing for September 28, 2023. Chairman Omali Yeshitela, Penny Hess, Jesse Nevel and their attorneys went to the Tampa Division Courthouse in Tampa, FL, accompanied by Movement members, supporters and the media.

The Burning Spear will continue to provide Uhuru 3 legal updates.
