Two Africans shot by pigs in St. Pete! InPDUM calls for community meeting

At around 3:00pm on April 15, 2013, an Uhuru Movement supporter reported the shooting of two Africans by the St. Petersburg police department in the area of 18th Avenue South and 26th Street.

According to two eyewitnesses at the scene, the cops attempted to open the door of a car in the alley one block south of 18th Avenue and 26th Street South.

After the occupants slammed the door in the cops' faces, the cops opened fire, wounding both Aisha Long and an as yet unidentified African man.

The International People's Democratic Uhuru Movement (InPDUM) is calling an emergency community meeting on Thursday, April 18th at 6:30pm at the Uhuru House, 1245 18th Avenue South.

The ruling class media and the police have already started their usual lies in an attempt to cover up this attack on African people.

According to a story released by the Tampa Bay Times, "Police said the incident began when officers from the department's Street Crimes Unit was approaching a stolen car parked in an alley behind 1831 26th Street South. As officers got close to the car, police said a male driver accelerated toward the officer."

This is the same lie the police told when they murdered Tyron Lewis in 1996.

We need to get organized. We are calling on everyone to come to this meeting to have a discussion about our response to the escalating police occupation of the African community.

In less than a year, two Africans have been killed in police chases.

A March 21, 2013 chase led to the police running a car into a tree. An African woman was killed and her severely injured fiancée has been charged with murder by the pigs.

InPDUM will be leafleting in the community near 18th Avenue and 26th Street South.
