Themba Tshibanda – Arming the masses with the Party’s most potent weapon, the Burning Spear

ST. LOUIS—When it comes to selling The Burning Spear, the political journal of the African People’s Socialist Party (APSP) and Uhuru Movement, few can match the work of Themba Tshibanda.

Comrade Brother Themba was seen all over St. Louis for two weeks with arms full of Spears for Africans who need to know about our Party, Movement and philosophy of African Internationalism, a world view that can explain and change the world.

Comrade Themba was also intent on introducing the African working class in St. Louis to our programs, especially our launch of the Black Power Blueprint that the Party of the African working class is busy implementing.

Themba sold 360 copies of The Burning Spear in two weeks. Sister Tiffany and Brother Kake from St. Louis InPDUM collectively sold 200 Spears. Comrade Starr from the African People’s Solidarity Committee (APSC) sold 40 copies of The Burning Spear by herself.

Comrade Themba had already sold more than 100 copies of the September issue of The Burning Spear before he hit the streets with October’s Spear.

All of these comrades must be saluted for this critical work of selling The Spear and spreading African Internationalism and the Party’s programs among our colonized people and allies.

We want to extend special recognition to Themba for traveling from our headquarters in St. Petersburg, Florida to train comrades in St. Louis in selling the Spear and other important organizing methods.

The African People’s Socialist Party sent Themba to St. Louis to kick off the training and Spear selling because of how important the struggle in St. Louis has become for our Party and our people.

St. Louis a pillar for our work

The Party first went to St. Louis in August of 2014 after the police murder of Michael Brown.

We participated with many other organizations and activists in the protests that were kicked off by the working class young people on Canfield Drive in Ferguson where 18-year-old Mike Brown was slaughtered by white cop Darren Wilson and left to rot for four and a half hours in the blistering hot August sun.

Opportunist petty bourgeoisie forces young and old eventually hijacked the bold resistance of the working class young Africans.

Without the leadership of their own working class Party, the initial chants of the people to “kill the police,’ was replaced by simpering chants of “hands up, don’t shoot,” and “Black Lives Matter.”

The African People’s Socialist Party is the advanced sector of the African working class, its general staff, its vanguard.

We were determined that the African workers of this critical area should never again be without the full leadership of its own Party.

So, after the cameras left and the billionaire “donors” went looking for the next best fertile ground of black militancy to subdue, our Party stayed and organized the people into their own anti-colonial working class Party.

Through work like that initiated by Themba to take The Spear to the masses of our people, we will quickly raise the level of political consciousness among the African working class and elevate the culture of Spear selling as the critical element in the day-to-day work of every Party and Uhuru Movement member worldwide.

Keep The Spear Burning, Comrade Themba!

Arm the African working class with its most potent weapon during this period of struggle.

Initiate socialist competition of selling The Spear within our Party and Movement!

We are winning!
