The Party salutes Ward Churchill and Natsu Saito

The Party salutes our fallen comrade, Ward Churchill-Presenté! October 2, 1947 – August 11, 2026

The African People’s Socialist Party honors the life and legacy of Comrade Ward Churchill, revolutionary academic, author, activist, speaker and dear friend of Chairman Omali Yeshitela and the Uhuru Movement.

Ward was a warrior in the battle of ideas, always upholding the interests of the oppressed and the colonized, putting his own career and well-being on the line to do so.

One of Ward’s many accomplishments was to force the true history of the Indigenous people of this hemisphere onto the forefront of popular consciousness.

Ward documented the profound history and civilization of the Indigenous people, and their centuries of brilliant and courageous struggle to maintain their land in the face of the brutal colonial white alien invasion.

Ward fought for and won the reality of the genocide of the Indigenous people–documenting the popular violence and murder perpetrated by the illegitimate white settlers– regular white people–as part of colonizing this stolen land now known as the “Americas”.

He took the reality of the genocide of the Indigenous people out of the confines of Zionism, Rafael Lemkin and those who would say that the murder of millions of white people in Europe by other white people was the “only true genocide.”

Ward’s book “A Little Matter of Genocide,” illustrates the colonial mode of production, exposing the reality that 600 years of popular white slaughter of hundreds of millions of Indigenous people in this hemisphere and the enslavement of African people is the basis of this current parasitic colonial social system that dominates the earth.

Ward also wrote brilliantly and thoroughly about the US government counterinsurgency attacks on the Indigenous and African liberation movements in this country in his books, “Agents of Repression” and “The COINTELPRO Papers.”

Ward wrote the “On Justice of Roosting Chickens” after the world trade center incidents in 2001, using Malcolm X’s words that the “Chickens are Coming Home to Roost,” referring to the assassination of president John Kennedy.

Ward sharply pointed out many of the countless atrocities perpetrated by the U.S. government throughout history. For this he was fired from his position as professor by the University of Colorado where he had taught for nearly 30 years.

.

Ward Churchill first spoke at an Uhuru Movement conference in October of 1987 in Berkeley, CA.

It is very historic and profound that Ward Churchill’s last public speech was at an event following the Uhuru 3 oral arguments hearing in Atlanta at the end of July.

The US state tried to silence Ward Churchill, but it was too late.

Ward Churchill has made an indelible, historic mark on the struggle for the true history, legacy and centrality of the Indigenous, African and the oppressed peoples of the US and the world.

The African People’s Socialist Party sends our profound solidarity, salutes and revolutionary love to the memory of Ward Churchill, to his partner, Professor Natsu Saito and to their family and community

The Uhuru Movement salutes Comrade Natsu Saito

The African People’s Socialist Party salutes Comrade Professor Natsu Saito, partner of our late Comrade Ward Churchill. Comrade Natsu is a brilliant author of the book “Settler Colonialism, Race and the Law.” She is a professor emerita from Georgia State University College of Law, revolutionary activist in her own right and, like Ward Churchill, a dear friend of the Uhuru Movement.

We thank Natsu for her brilliant work of opening up large conference rooms and resources at the Georgia State University School of Law on the night before and again on the morning of the July 22 oral arguments for the Uhuru 3 appeal in Atlanta.

The important events set up by Comrade Natsu enabled the more than 85 Uhuru 3 supporters in attendance to participate in the political summations of the oral arguments hearing led by Chairman Omali Yeshitela along with the Uhuru 3 legal team.

Comrade Professor Natsu organized students and professors to play a role in supporting the hearing, including Professor Mel Mawuli Davis who provided catering for the event after the hearing. It is also significant and poignant that Comrade Ward spoke at the post-hearing event–his last public statement.

Again we salute Comrade Natsu Saito.

Uhuru!
