Mwezi Odom (corner, right) began as a volunteer
with the All African People’s Development and
Empowerment Project (AAPDEP), placing her
skills in the hands of the African working class
for the purpose of developing self-determination.
Mwezi demonstrated her love and commitment to
the struggle of African people to be free through
her involvement with AAPDEP and the San Diego
branch of the International People’s Democratic
Uhuru Movement (InPDUM) before making the
decision to join the African People’s Socialist Party
(APSP).
As a member of the Party, her leadership was
thrust forward with her chairing of the Hands
Off Uhuru! Hands Off Africa! Counteroffensive
campaign to push back the FBI attacks against
the Uhuru 3, including Chairman Omali Yeshitela,
and the right of African and colonized people to
anti-colonial free speech
Under her leadership, this campaign has made its rounds across the globe, uniting forces from
across the political spectrum to join in the fightback to drop the charges. In November of 2023, she
was appointed to the post of the National Office of the Secretary General for the African People’s
Socialist Party.
Through this role, she works directly under the
leadership of Chairman Omali Yeshitela to build
the Party, maintain and develop our organiza-
tional relationships, hold the Party’s leadership
accountable to the goals and mandates set forth
in plenaries and congresses and much more.
Comrade Mwezi has brilliantly stepped into this
role, and under her leadership, the Party’s future
is surely bright.
Comrade Emmanuel Maku (Lukede) joined the
ranks of the African People’s Socialist Party
in April of 2023 and wasted no time getting
boots on the ground, beginning to organize in
the U.S. Northern region.
“What led me to join the Party, was ultimately
the on-the-ground leadership which was armed
by the theory of African Internationalism and
over 50 years of relentless, principled struggle
which is matched by no one. It’s pretty hard to
say “no” to the only revolutionary organization
worthy of leading the full capacity of Africa
and all African people to a liberated, unified
Africa under one socialist government led by
the African working class. It’s even harder to
say “no” when the Chairman asks.”
Emmanuel has been providing that same on-
the-ground leadership, bringing the Party to the
campus of Howard University in Washington D.C.
At the “Howard U Walkout For Palestine,” where
Howard students rallied at the Howard Universi-
ty’s administration building against the university’s
zionist military connections, students demanded
that the university end its complicit support of the
genocide of colonized people in Palestine. The
Party was invited to speak by Howard University
Students for Justice in Palestine.
In building for the Black is Back Coalition’s 15th
Annual Black People’s March on the White
House, Comrade Emmanuel spoke at the invita-
tion of the Palestinian Youth Movement, in front of
the state department at a rally to hold war criminals
accountable in a people’s court.
Comrade Emmanuel is bringing the Party to the
people, building unity with the struggle to smash
colonialism!
