On July 16, 2020, comedian, actor, television and podcast host Nick Cannon made comments about white power for which the colonial media punished him.
During an interview with rapper and spoken word artist Professor Griff, on Cannon’s podcast “Cannon’s Class”, they discussed the oppression and deception of African (black) people by both Republicans and Democrats, which both represent the ruling class.
Cannon said, “Let’s go to what it really is then” and started discussing colonialism in Africa and domestic colonialism in the U.S. He stated “whether it’s Jewish people, white people, Europeans, the Illuminati,” regardless of political party, they continue to “rob, steal, rape, kill” African people.
The mainstream media has branded this and other statements made by Cannon on the podcast as “race supremacist” and “anti-semetic.” ViacomCBS responded by firing Cannon from his own sketch comedy and improv game show “Nick Cannon Presents: Wild ‘n Out.”
Despite calling out white power, including white Jewish people who benefit just as much from white power as any white person, Nick Cannon has since caved to media pressure and apologized for his statements. He is, however, also struggling for ownership of “Wild ‘n Out,” which he created, saying “my ownership was swindled away from me.”
Are white people “evil” and “less than” African people?
In his interview with Professor Griff, Cannon described the difficult life of Europeans due to their harsh and barren environment in Europe, and went on to describe how “they had to be savages, they had to be barbaric, […] they’re acting as animals.”
Cannon added “They’re the ones that are actually closer to animals. They’re the ones who are the true savages.” He continued that when white people came to Africa, “Instead of trying to make friends, they said ‘we want what you got.’”
These statements provided the logic for what he said earlier in the interview, where he stated white people are “evil” and “less than” African people. This conclusion is similar to that of the Nation of Islam, which states that white people are “the devil” and “mutations.”
As Chairman Omali Yeshitela of the African People’s Socialist Party (APSP) states in his book “An Uneasy Equilibrium: Parasitic Capitalism vs the African Revolution”:
“…the answer to the avaricious motivation of white people is not to be found in an examination of morality, religion or genetics.”
The African People’s Socialist Party and greater Uhuru Movement defend any African person who speaks out against white power. It is, however, a subjective stance to say that white people are just naturally “evil” as it does not take into consideration that, as Chairman Omali Yeshitela has stated in numerous presentations, “White people have a material interest in colonialism.”
As the Chairman explains further in “An Uneasy Equilibrium”:
“Material and human resources of Africa have gone to satisfy the requirements of life for Europeans at the expense of Africa and Africans. The process of Africans producing and reproducing life has not been primarily for Africa and Africans—it has been primarily for Europe and the white world at our expense.”
The Chairman continues:
“The total existence of “white” people and their ability to produce and reproduce life is dependent on this parasitic relationship that came into being with the attack by feudal Europe on Africa and the world.”
We cannot reconcile with our oppressors nor end our oppression by integrating into their social system, as their entire economic and social system relies on our oppression. Nor can we overturn white power through hiring an army of psychologists or geneticists.
White people have material reasons for oppressing us and it is through material means that we will end our oppression. The solution to colonialism is to become anti-colonialists.
White Jews for African and Palestinian liberation
The label of “anti-semite” has been used throughout the history of the Black Power Movement to silence African people who raise that all white people, even white Jews, benefit from white power and owe reparations to African people.
This rehashed smear campaign has been used on innumerable African leaders from Malcolm X to Chairman Omali Yeshitela. Now, it is being used on African celebrities like Nick Cannon.
This does not reflect the stance of all white Jewish people, many of whom are in deep solidarity with African people and Palestinian people to end colonialism and reclaim their land.
One of these white Jewish people is Uhuru Solidarity Movement (USM) National Chair Jesse Nevel. The Uhuru Solidarity Movement, formed and led by the African People’s Socialist Party, is an organization of white people organizing in the white community for reparations to the African Revolution.
At a 2018 USM Boston event called “Victory to Palestine! A call for Jewish & white solidarity with African, Palestinian and Indigenous Liberation!”, Jesse Nevel stated:
“The next time someone says “anti-semitism,” look closer at the context, because 99.9% of the time it’s being used to silence criticism of Israel or some other kind of imperialism. I am not anti-semetic, I am anti-rape, I’m anti-the mass murder of children, I’m anti-colonialism, I’m anti-Israel, I’m anti-America. So if that makes me anti-semetic; If that makes me a “self-hating Jew,” I’m a proud “self-hating Jew” […] until African and Palestinian children can live full, free, healthy lives without fear of being raped or murdered at the hands of white people, including Jews.”
He ended this statement by calling for all Jewish, and other white people who agree, to join the Uhuru Solidarity Movement.
We are building control of our own media!
On his 2011 comedy album “Mr. Showbiz,” Nick Cannon talked about how African people “need to organize” and “need to have meetings” in order to end our oppression. In the Uhuru Movement, we know we must organize towards the total liberation and unification of our people, and not merely fight for our rights within a system that depends on our oppression.
ViacomCBS fired Nick Cannon from his own show because white power owns his show, not him and his African people. He has given way to media backlash and has apologized for criticizing white power and is now publishing book reports on his facebook to “educate [him]self.” He was not wrong for criticizing white power but is wrong for giving way to white power and seeking to join in “understanding” with his oppressor.
The African People’s Socialist Party and Uhuru Movement are building our own media, free from any control or influence from white power, where we have control of our own narrative,defend our people and support our African artists. We are organizing for freedom.

The African People’s Education and Defense Fund (APEDF) formed Black Power 96.3 FM as our own media to define our own narrative, forward the revolution and support black artists who support our people.
On Black Power 96.3 FM, black rappers, musicians, DJ’s and various programmers have a platform where they can expose the ways that white power oppresses us without fear, since we control the airwaves.
We cannot bow down to white power!
“Black people united will never be defeated!” is a popular chant of the African People’s Socialist Party and Uhuru Movement for a reason. “The people are everything. You cannot have revolution without the people,” says Chairman Omali Yeshitela.
Black artists who fear persecution and repercussions from white people, have the opportunity to join the African Revolution and create culture for our people’s liberation. “Culture has always been a large part of the revolution,” as Chairman Omali Yeshitela has stated. African artists, African people and all those in solidarity with us have the responsibility to join the revolution to overturn white power and colonialism once and for all!
Black people united will never be defeated!
