On Thursday, July 22, 2010 the police in London, England in the African community of Brixton, in broad daylight, raided the Mosque of the Nation Of Islam. The international counter-insurgency of white power has used the decades old "war on drugs" as an excuse to wipe out and attack any notion of African people struggling for self-determination. This is the excuse, a search for a "marijuana farm," the police used in this attack on the NOI in Brixton in an attempt to criminalize any organizational effort for black freedom. The African Socialist International Stands in Solidarity with the Nation of Islam to fend off these attacks by the criminal British government who along with the U.S. Government sees virtually the entire Islamic world as "terrorist." But the U.S. and Britain are the real terrorist. HANDS OFF!! NOI-BRITAIN!
Lee Jasper former Policy Director for Policing for London has condemned a drugs raid on the Nation of Islam Mosque in Brixton, London.
Reports are that at 11:15 am on Thursday 22 July 2010 armed police officers forced their way into the UK Headquarters of The Nation of Islam in Brixton London. It’s reported by the NOI that the Police insisted that they had intelligence that there was a cannabis factory on the premises. The Police then bizarrely claimed that they were unaware that it was a Mosque building.
Lee Jasper stated,
“This policing operation is an outrageous attack on the NOI and smacks of either gross incompetence or a return to a policing style that politically targets black organisations reminiscent of the 1980’s. How the Police could believe that the NOI Mosque was a’ cannabis farm’ defies belief. The degree of naivety by the police is staggering. What’s next Black Churches being subjected to heroin searches?
He added.
“Tensions between the police and black communities in London are rising. Massively increasing rates of stop and searches particularly on children, the abolition by the Home Secretary of the stop and account monitoring form and the failure to tackle gun and knife crime along with the dramatic loss of confidence of all communities in the Police as a result of the tragic case of Ian Tomlinson have all contributed. This raid is a disaster for community relations particularly after the positive effect of the recent visit of Prince Charles.”
The NOI is organising a demonstration/press conference outside Brixton Police Station Lambeth Friday July 23. This will be held outside of Brixton Police Station at 6:45 pm.
