Imperialists ban Russia from 2016 Olympic Games! APSP says “let Russia play!”

The African People’s Socialist Party (APSP) condemns the attacks by imperialist governments and by the U.S. government in particular to ban the Russian Olympic Team from 2016 Rio de Janeiro Summer Olympic games, which begin August 5, 2016.

This assault is part of a coordinated campaign against the government and people of Russia, and we recognize that it is typical of the trend by the U.S. to try to win public opinion against countries and leaders that it wants to attack.

This is especially true of Russia that has challenged the imperialist ambitions of the U.S., the government that has provoked unrest on Russia’s border and fomented the brutal coup against the democratically-elected government of Ukraine.

We understand that the U.S. is concerned about its loss of influence in Europe where there are governments that would enter into independent relationships with Russia if there were no interference by the U.S.

As African people colonized inside the U.S., we are all too familiar with attacks by this so-called U.S. democracy that claims to defend the rights of peoples of the world when in fact every war and most oppression on the planet has been instigated by the U.S. and European imperialism.

The African People’s Socialist Party stands in solidarity with the people and government of Russia in its struggle for the right to participate in the Rio de Janeiro Olympic games and to engage freely in international affairs without military and political interference from the diminishing U.S. and European powers.
