Every three months, the African People's Socialist Party (APSP) recognizes our Biko Lumumba Comrade of the Quarter award winner— a comrade whose stance and performance in the struggle for the liberation of African people shines brightly as an example to others.
Nomination for Charles Oliver
On behalf of the Office of Economic Development and Finance, I’m nominating Charles A. Oliver for the Biko Lumumba Comrade of the Quarter.
If you have met Charles, his personality is one that is warm and ready to take on anything you ask of him. Charles was nominated back in June 2013 for creating retractable banners, posters, updated our website and created new logos and images for the One Billion Strong Donor Campaign and Uhuru Foods and Pies.
This quarter, Charles took on what the Chairman’s Political Report to the Sixth Congress called on all of us to do: “recruit” into the Party. Charles did just that with his graphic designs that were beautifully crafted and designed with African Internationalism in the center.
Charles created the following items this quarter:
-He designed the beautiful One Africa! One Nation! Freedom Ball Invitation. This had Africa and Africans displayed proudly and boldly with bold vibrant African colors throughout.
-He designed posters and club cards highlighting the One Africa! One Nation! Freedom Ball and all the entertainers and MCs. He also designed the ticket that was sold for people to enter the ball.
-He designed the Silent Auction Posters.
-He designed the Red Carpet backdrop for pictures to be taken.
-Charles also designed the One Africa! One Nation! Freedom Ball program.
-The biggest job to date that Charles has taken on is the One Africa! One Nation! One Party! Sixth Congress of the African People’s Socialist Party 2013 Souvenir Book. This book was incredible. Every page from the cover to the table of contents all the way to the back cover was designed to showcase all the Party departments and organizations, friends, family, comrades and supporters from around the world.
Charles work did not stop at the 6th Party Congress; he works in Uhuru Foods and Pies at St. Petersburg Saturday Market each week. Charles continues to create Pie menu boards, tabletop tent card for displaying the Uhuru Pies at Pie tasting tables that increased our visibility and sales for 2013. Everyone in the booth loves him, especially the young people; he treats everyone with respect while getting the job done.
As has been stated before, Charles goes above and beyond to make sure our propaganda really reflects the movement in the most positive way and he really gets the look we are trying to capture.
We have seen Charles take an idea and turn it into a beautiful reality. He works without complaining—always with a smile—no matter how many times we go back and forth about a design. He is patient and has a high level of expertise.
We all know that if the Party cannot be seen in the world, we will not and could not exist. This is why I’m nominating Charles A. Oliver for the Biko Lumumba Comrade of the Quarter, December 2013.
Charles Oliver will receive:
A $50 gift card
The Biko Lumumba Comrade of the Quarter plaque
Recognition on Uhuru News and Radio, and
Recognition at an Uhuru Movement event
