Uhuru Movement

Eritha Cainion (traditionally known as Akilé Anai) filed paperwork this week at City Hall for the council seat to be vacated by term-limited Karl Nurse. She joins an already crowded field of candidates, including: local NAACP president Maria Scruggs, Lakewood Terrace activist and South St. Petersburg CRA advisory board member Corey Givens and perennial candidate Sharon Russ.

Cainion says she has discussed financial and grassroots support with the Uhuru movement, but considers herself a non-partisan candidate that will accept support from across the city. 

A second candidate with ties to the Uhuru Movement has emerged for the upcoming city elections.

Jesse Nevel’s slogan for his mayoral run?  “Unity through reparations.”

Nevel, 27, a Miami native who has lived in the city since he was 18, said he decided to make his initial foray into politics fight for justice for the city’s black residents.

“I decided to run because the old guard is on its way out and we want to see economic development for black communities and this city that is something that will uplift 

HOUSTON––On February 18th, ground was broken in Houston, Texas to plant seeds at the 5th Ward Community Garden by members of All African People’s Development and Empowerment Project (AAPDEP) and the International People’s Democratic Uhuru Movement (InPDUM) and the 5th Ward community in honor of our fallen African Martys.

The event, opened up with the powerful rhythm of African drums,  featured guest speakers, such as long time African People’s Socialist Party member Omowale Kefing, Black Panther Party Alumni Bunchy Crear and the local InPDUM President, Teila N. Comrade Willie N. Rodriquez from the Chicano/Indigenous movement also spoke some words of encouragement

The African People’s Socialist Party-Bahamas is calling on all freedom loving people throughout The Bahamas, the Caribbean and around the world to attend an historic Build to Win Conference on Friday, March 24th at 7pm in Nassau, Bahamas. The African People’s Socialist Party-Bahamas was established in 2013. It is a political organization aimed toward the liberation and unification of Africa and African people under the leadership of the African working class.

The African People’s Socialist Party’s Africans One Billion Strong Donor Campaign (AOBS) is collective investment in our own African future based on a foundation of political and economic power over our lives. Every African around the world should participate because the future of our people depends on our ability to have an economy that is primarily designed to take care of black people first and foremost.

Huey P. Newton, co-founder and Minister of Defense of the Black Panther Party was assassinated in Oakland, California on August 22, 1989. One of the most significate leaders of the Black Revolution of the Sixties, in recent years prior to his death, Newton had become associated with the African People’s Socialist Party and the Uhuru Movement in Oakland.

The Black Is Back Coalition for Social Justice, Peace and Reparations, condemns the assassination of unarmed African woman Emilsen Manyoma, a freedom organizer for African liberation in Colombia, by cowardly Colombian paramilitary State thugs on January 17, 2017.

We hold comrade Emilsen Manyoma in high esteem. She is an African martyr; she was murdered because of her courage, and willingness to fight for African national liberation against parasitic corporations.

The question of being economically self-sustaining is key to the organizing strategy of the African National Women’s Organization (ANWO). In order to successfully build our campaigns and support African women, who are vulnerable to state attacks, ANWO needed to have a way to bring in resources, separate from our membership dues; so we came up with beauty brand concept DeColonaise: A Revolution for your Hair and Body.

Donald John Trump was inaugurated as the president of U.S. on January 20, 2017. He became the 45th president to take office.

He began his inauguration speech by thanking the past U.S. presidents that were present at the ceremony, including Barack Obama, whom Trump claimed a fierce opposition to during his campaign.

This shows that Trump is aligned with imperialism and simply used backlash against the black president to consolidate the white working class.
