ST PETERSBURG, FL–Albert Fields and Jevon Gammon of Burning Spear Media (BSM) arrived in St. Louis, Missouri, one day before the convening of the historic Black People’s Grand Jury, to provide multi-media services for the proceedings where a jury of local black residents determined that Ferguson cop, Darren Wilson, should be indicted for first degree murder for shooting and killing Mike Brown.
AJ Ali of St. Petersburg and Wil Lockett of Chicago joined the BSM Multi-Media team that worked around the clock. They operated the sound system and video projector so that all in attendance could clearly see and hear the evidence presented and the prosecutors’ arguments.
They videotaped the two-day event and broadcast it live over the internet, allowing Uhuru TV viewers and Uhuru Radio listeners from around the world to witness the heroic African community of Ferguson, Missouri stand up and take justice into our own black hands.
The BSM Multi-Media team was well-prepared, well-equipped and well-rehearsed, under the expert guidance of Director Albert Fields. They solved every problem that arose.
The Multi-Media team prepared the video clips that were to be presented as evidence in the hearing, before embarking on their trip from Florida to Ferguson. They pre-produced transition videos and still images to professionalize the live broadcast.
They recruited help from creative supporters including Charles Oliver of the Uhuru Graphics Studio to produce title and motion graphics. Sister Constance and her two children starred in a video clip to promote the Black Community Control of Police campaign of the International People’s Democratic Uhuru Movement.
Black People’s Grand Jury DVD coming soon!
Fields and Gammon spent the day before the Grand Jury at the venue setting up and testing the equipment, rehearsing the scripted transitions from video evidence to live testimony and ensuring that the internet bandwidth would be sufficient for the live streaming video broadcast. They bought and installed temporary lighting when the venue’s lighting proved insufficient.
The Black People’s Grand Jury was beautifully displayed, broadcast and documented on video as a result of the hard work and bold creativity of the BSM Multi-Media team—a record of this great advancement towards the assumption of State power and the regaining of real self-determination for African people under the leadership of the African working class.
BSM is now working to produce a DVD box set chronicaling this powerful event. It will be sold as a fundraiser for the pro video cameras, mics, high-powered computers and file storage systems needed to expand the capacity of BSM to give voice to the liberation struggle of African people.
The DVD will also serve as a template for how groups throughout the African world can hold their own Black People’s Grand Jury. Contact BSM at 727-824-5700 or support@burningspearmarketplace.com to place your advanced order.
