Orlando massacre: U.S. imperialism is guilty!

ORLANDO, FL––The African People’s Socialist Party (APSP) condemns U.S. imperialism for creating the conditions that led to the Orlando mass shooting of 50 people by 29-year-old Afghan Omar Mateen.

We profoundly sympathize with the families of the many young, predominately Indigenous (Latino) and African (black) people who were victims of the shooting.

We say this in the context of recognizing what the U.S. does to Muslim and Arab people every single day.

Omar Mateen’s attack on the Pulse nightclub was a response to U.S. bombing of Iraq, Syria and Afghanistan, according to statements made by Mateen himself.

Rabbi Michael Lerner, liberal Zionist, tramples upon Muhammad Ali’s legacy at funeral

Muhammad Ali was a hugely important historical and political figure whose legacy has been distorted and whitewashed since his death by the white media. Chief among the posthumous assassins of Ali's political legacy is Michael Lerner, Berkeley-based white Jewish rabbi and editor of Tikkun Magazine.

Lerner is being showered with praise for his "powerful" sermon at the June 10th funeral for Ali, but Lerner is not a friend of the Palestinians nor of the legacy of black power and anti-Zionist solidarity personified by Ali at his prime.

African Internationalism is NOT Pan-Africanism! African Internationalism is the theory of the African working class!

The struggle between Pan-Africanism and African Internationalism is a contest for the truth, between African petty bourgeoisie and the African workers.

It does not happen in vacuum or in outer space, it happens in a  parasitic capitalist world that is split between oppressed and oppressors nations, between bosses and workers, petty bourgeoisie and working class.

There is no Pan-Africanism in general. It has a class ownership.

The U.S. president’s wife and partner in imperialist crime, Michelle Obama, delivered what many petty bourgeoisie Africans consider to be a great commencement address at the City College of New York on June 3, 2016.

U.S. neocolonial first lady Obama, during her almost 24-minute speech, spoke of diversity, critiqued subtly the 2016 Republican nominee, Donald Trump, and raised up her neocolonial husband and U.S. president, Barack Hussein Obama.

Kalief Browder: One year after his suicide, the State is still responsible!

New York—Yesterday marked one year since the suicide death of Kalief Browder. Young African Kalief was arrested at the age of 16 in 2010 and imprisoned for three years for allegedly stealing a backpack.

Kalief never stood trial, nor was he found guilty of any crime. He, however, spent three years at the Riker’s jail. Nearly two of those years were spent in solitary confinement.

The case was eventually dismissed and Kalief, affectionately called Peanut by his family, was released in June of 2013 after numerous postponements of his case and 31 hearings.

Kalief hanged himself in his home in the Bronx on June 6th of last year.
