When black parents encourage their children to turn themselves in to the police, because of some colonial understanding of morality or white ruling class law, we become an arm of the State.

In 2012 Shantel Davis was 23 when she was shot once in the chest after she struggled with the cop who chased her down. She later died. In the days following her murder, rallies and protests erupted in the black community in her defense.

The mass events of expressing people's will in Ferguson have barely calmed down, when the fire of struggle got lit in Baltimore, where many US citizens are undergoing repressions by law enforcement officers.

Prior to the April 3 Good Friday planting of the Spring Crop in the 5th Ward Community Garden, AAPDEP members worked diligently to ensure the entire planting process would go smoothly as planned.

The Black is Back Coalition is an organization of organizations and individuals whose mission in this instance is to bring a coherent message to this mass movement coming out of Ferguson and spreading throughout the country.
