A Taste Of Freedom

From gardens rooted deep in the neighborhood ground,
To ovens where liberation is lovingly browned,
Uhuru Bakery & Café ain’t just serving slices sweet-
It’s a movement putting freedom back on our streets.

Are those Black’s only pies? ABSOLUTELY…not.
But they’re pies with a purpose, connected to the plot.

Everything UHURU, every sweet bite
Is part of a vision to build Black futures bright.
We source fresh foods from gardens nearby,
Where fruit and veggies grow rich beneath the sunlit sky.

Herbs, berries, and sweet potatoes too,
Supporting local growers in all that we do.
Because food deserts starve more than stomachs alone,
They weaken communities from the marrow to the bone.

So we're planting springs where dry lands used to be,
Bringing nourishment, ownership, and dignity.
This is economics wrapped warm in a crust,
People investing in their people by choice and by trust.

Not charity-circulation. Not a trends-foundation.
A recipe for healing through cooperative creation.

So when you taste these pies, understand what they mean:
A Black community rising, resilient and seen.
Each dollar becomes a seed, each meal becomes a way,
To feed the people now, while building wealth that's here to stay.
