Resisting the counterinsurgency and forwarding the African Revolution

This is a guest essay from behind enemy lines

Since the July 29, 2022 FBI raid on the Uhuru Movement the African People’s Socialist Party has been resisting the most recent attack by colonialism’s counterinsurgency against the African Liberation Movement.

The counterinsurgency is a secret war that colonialism has been waging in the African colony in the American Empire since the early 20th century. It was first launched against the African Liberation Movement during the Black Scare with the upsurge of anti-colonialism, and radicalism in World War l era as the African Liberation Movement was gaining momentum under the leadership of Marcus Garvey and the UNIA; it was escalated to the greatest degree with the resurgence of anti-colonialism and militancy in the post-World

During the Second Imperialist war period, the Black Scare reached the height of hysteria and paranoia with the fear of African resistance, rebellion and revolt and the start of the African Revolution. This war used propaganda, disinformation and misinformation to discredit African leaders like Marcus Garvey, Paul Robeson, W.E.B. DuBois, Malcolm X, Martin Luther King and Fred Hampton. The colonizers used imprisonment and assassination to neutralize them; and used co-optation to ensure cooperation and collaboration from the African petty bourgeoisie–just as it used the secret police and the military and other measures to defeat the African Revolution and restore order and enforce peace in the African colony through repression and violence in a campaign of pacification.

It also used narcotization to bring our community under the control of drugs and the illegal drug business to destabilize it and destroy the morale and mettle of African people so we would no longer have the will or capacity to continue to struggle against colonialism and fight for freedom.  They use the War on Drugs to justify criminalizing us and throwing us in prison. It is a dirty war that is brutal and bloody with repression and terror and it is devastating with psychological warfare.

Under the leadership of Chairman Omali Yeshitela, the APSP has been leading the African Liberation Movement since the defeat of the African Revolution. It has connected the anti-colonial struggle of Africans in America to the anti-colonial struggle of Africans in other parts of the African Diaspora and Africa and united our people in a single fight against colonialism and neo-colonialism on different fronts. It has also been advancing the worldwide African Revolution to free Africa and Africans from colonialism and neo-colonialism and liberate Africa from all foreign domination and exploitation.

This makes the Party the greatest threat to the U.S-dominated imperialist-capitalist system because it is the vanguard of the African Revolution that aims to destroy the parasitic colonial mode of production and unite Africa under a socialist government and use its vast resources, riches and wealth for its own economic development and the progress of its peoples.

It is for this reason that the Party has been attacked by the counterinsurgency.

As the U.S. wages a proxy war against Russia in Ukraine with its allies in the imperialist club that is NATO, it has escalated its counterinsurgency against the African Liberation Movement by attacking the APSP by accusing it of colluding with Russia to interfere with American elections and spreading Russian propaganda about America to besmirch it and agitating on behalf of Russia to subvert the American system. This is the same old accusations that America made against the movement where Africans here were struggling against colonialism and fighting for national liberation and self-determination in the Sixties like all other colonized peoples in Africa, Asia and Latin America.

With America’s proxy war in Ukraine it has not only bombarded the world with a daily barrage of propaganda about Russia, it has also been publicly accusing the Party and its leaders of subversive activities or Russian collusion without any real evidence to substantiate such accusations so as to discredit its leadership and justify carrying out repressive measures against it. They do this in the name of combating Russian subversion of the American government just as it did with other socialist or communist organizations during the McCarthy Era right in the midst of the Red Scare during the Cold War.

The hysteria and paranoia of the Black Scare reached pathological proportions with the Black Scare as America was rocked and shaken by the great upheaval and unrest of the African Revolution. The Black Scare was far greater than the Red Scare because there was nothing that had caused more fear in America than the resistance, rebellion and revolt of Africans under colonialism. That great fear is the primary reason why all of the repression of the settler-colonialist state was unleashed against the African Revolution to crush it with naked force and terrorism through the counterinsurgency-it is why the African Revolution bore the brunt of the murderous onslaught of COINTELPRO and we suffered the most casualties in that dirty war.

It isn’t Russian propaganda that makes America look bad. It is the machinations and brutalities of American imperialism that does so. America is the most dictatorial and the most murderous imperial power in the world, not Russia. America has overthrown more governments through coups, assassinated more heads of state, propped-up more puppet regimes, backed more dictators, invaded, occupied and intervened in more  countries, interfered in more foreign elections, waged more wars of aggression against other countries and imposed more economic sanctions and blockades on other countries to starve their people than any other country in the world.

No other country in the world has engaged in more subversion, sabotage, militarism, terrorism, drone strikes, proxy wars, counter-revolutions and counterinsurgencies or caused more collateral damage than America. It was America that overthrew the government of Kwame Nkrumah in Ghana, Sukarno in Indonesia, Mossadegh in Iran and Salvador Allende in Chile, orchestrated the assassinations of Patrice Lumumba and Allende, plotted and attempted to assassinate Fidel Castro and ordered the execution of Che Guevara, backed and supported a rouge’s gallery of murderous dictators like the Shah, Mobutu, Savimbi, Papa Doc, Baby Doc, Batista, Somoza, Marcos, Suharto and Mubarak, invaded Grenada and Panama, and waged wars of aggression in Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan for decades, not Russia.

And it is America that openly displays its arrogance of power and shows a supercilious disregard for international law and flagrantly violates it as it sees fit and just behaves like a rogue state as the world’s only superpower, not Russia. America has derailed democracy, crushed movements combating political, social and economic oppression and destabilized countries and brought untold agony and misery and death and destruction to people all over the world to protect its empire and its imperium and hegemony and maintain access to and control of the world’s resources.

U.S. imperial domination and intervention in the Western Hemisphere and throughout the world has been its tactic to derail democracies, crush movements combating political, social and economic oppression and destabilize countries.

As for Africans in America, we have been colonized, enslaved, oppressed, Jim Crowed, lynched, massacred, murdered, jailed, imprisoned and deprived of our freedom and human rights for over 400 years. We have been struggling for freedom for centuries and our freedom fighters have been harassed, hounded, hunted, assassinated, railroaded into prison or driven into exile. It is right here in America where Africans are routinely beat, shot and killed by the police who get away with shooting and killing Africans more than Israeli soldiers get away with shooting and killing Palestinians in Occupied Palestine and where more Africans are locked away in this country’s vast archipelago of prisons than any other country in the world. Such are the realities and brutalities of life for Africans under colonialism in America and no amount of American propaganda about Russia can change or obscure the fact that this is America and not Russia.

The APSP has been agitating against colonialism and capitalism and leading the struggle against colonialism in America and the fight for African Liberation as the advanced detachment of the African working-class for 50 years on its own with nothing but the support of the people and its allies amongst the colonized in the struggle against colonialism.

It has also been resisting the counterinsurgency just as long and exposing it by revealing how it defeated the African Revolution as it murdered our leaders and destroyed our anti-colonial organizations and promoted, backed and supported petty bourgeois Africans as leaders and elevated them to positions in the colonial government and who are nothing but black-skin, white-mask wearing, obsequious Negroes whose ideal of freedom is assimilation and integration into the colonizing nation and who only speak out against racism and fight for civil rights and promote electoral politics.

The Party has exposed those Negroes as sell-outs who represent white power in black face as neo-colonialist puppets and stooges, just as surely as it has exposed that America was built from colonialism and rests on a pedestal of slavery just like Europe and the entire West.

Since the FBI raids on the Uhuru Movement the APSP has been countering all of the propaganda, disinformation, misinformation and outright lies that the colonial government and its corporate-capitalist media have been spreading about the Party and the Uhuru Movement. The attention and coverage those raids generated has thrust the Party into the national spotlight and provided it with a great deal of publicity around America and exposure to people throughout the country.

It had not only given Chairman Omali, Director Akile Anai, Chairwoman Penny Hess and other leaders of the Party and the Uhuru Movement the great opportunity to respond to the colonial government’s false accusations and change its false narrative in various press conferences and interviews, but to also speak about the Party and its work and let people know what it really represents and stands for and fights for, denounce the FBI’s raids and expose them as attacks of the ongoing counterinsurgency against the African Liberation Movement, talk about the Party’s position on Russia and America’s proxy war against Russia in Ukraine and get the message out about African Internationalism and the worldwide African Revolution.

All of this has led to a groundswell of support for the Party and the Uhuru Movement. As the APSP and the Uhuru Movement moves forward with its work, it resists the counterinsurgency and its latest attacks by continuing to build and strengthen the Party and widening its base of support and it organizations and institutions, agitate against colonialism, neo-colonialism, imperialism and capitalism, organize and mobilize the African masses to fight for national liberation and leading the Hands Off Campaign to expose the counterinsurgency and win the minds and hearts of Africans everywhere.

Founded in 1972 to complete the Black Revolution of the 1960s, the APSP has charted the path to liberation in our lifetime.

The counterinsurgency seeks to stamp out the growing upsurge of anti-colonialism in the African colony in the American Empire and stop the African Revolution as it did in the Sixties, but it won’t succeed as it did before because this time around the African Revolution will be waged on various fronts with Africans united in a single struggle against colonialism and neo-colonialism and fight for true national liberation, self-determination and socialism. The African Revolution of the Sixties was just a dress rehearsal for the African Revolution of this era.

In the face of the counterinsurgency the APSP won’t back down or retreat, it will continue to lead a relentless struggle against colonialism and forward the worldwide African Revolution that is going to shake the very foundations of the imperialist-capitalist world like no other revolution before it.

For more than 600 years the West has had its tentacles buried in Africa and the African Diaspora and it has been sucking the riches and wealth out of them and the life, labor and blood from their peoples, but the African Revolution is going to sever the tentacles of that imperialist-capitalist Octopus and change the world just as surely as the world was forever altered by colonialism and the colonial mode of production and the bloody birth of capitalism.

As the advanced detachment of the African working-class the APSP will lead and forward the African Revolution until Africa and Africans everywhere are free of colonialism, neo-colonialism, imperialism and capitalism!
