Double-down against colonial counterinsurgency!
It has always been the expressed goal of the African People’s Socialist Party (APSP) that true African liberation will come by no other means than our own. Since 1972—our founding—the Party has waged this ideological and on-the-ground warfare against colonial propaganda; and for this, in the early hours of Friday, July 29, our Party and movement leaders were viciously attacked by the FBI. For daring to take liberation into our own hands, the Party was targeted.
Adopted in 1979, Point 1 of our Working 14-Point Platform declares that we want the peace, dignity, and right to “build a prosperous life through our own labor and in our own interests.”
Once declared, the Party—under the leadership of Chairman Omali Yeshitela—has worked to materialize the means through which we become self-sufficient and truly independent through the establishment of our own theory of African Internationalism, mass organizations and countless campaigns designed to directly counteract counterinsurgency against our movement.
African Internationalism and the impending revolution
The Party developed African Internationalism, our practical theory and worldview that makes Africans the subject—the center, the topic—of history, rather than the object; a worldview that posits the rise of capitalism through the savage attack in Africa—a parasitic process that functions on the backs of our labor, murders our people and steals our homes and children—all through the guise of American “democracy.”
Through this worldview, it was made absolutely clear that our struggle is against the system of colonialism, rather than the self-defeating waste of time of fighting racism—the ideas in white people’s heads. Guided by African Internationalism, the Party has made clear that African liberation can only be realized by the hands of the African working class.
With this revolutionary guideline, the Party was able to lead campaigns like “We Charge Genocide”— a campaign charging the U.S. government of the historical and contemporary genocidal acts committed against African people.
The Party charges world colonialism
In 1982, the first World Tribunal on Reparations for Black People in the United States was organized and held by the APSP, in which the U.S. government was charged with $4.1 trillion in reparations; a calculation only accounting for the value of stolen labor. With today’s dollar, that value becomes incalculable.
In addition to these charges, the Party established a mass organization that worked to bring Africans back into political life following the counterinsurengy of the 1960s with the International People’s Democratic Uhuru Movement. The Party also moved to answer and ameliorate the economic and health disparities of Afrcans through organizations like All African People’s Development and Empowerment Project (AAPDEP), the special oppression African women face through the African National Women’s Organization (ANWO); there are more.
All this was done in conjunction with answering the question of how white people can commit class suicide and become a part of the African Revolution through the African People’s Solidarity Committee (APSC) and the Uhuru Solidarity Movement (USM), which requires that white people organize against colonialism under the leadership of the African working class, and express material solidarity by paying reparations to our over 50 economic projects and institutions.
We resolved that our colonial subjugation produces the vast resources for the capitalist economy, to which all economic activity is concentrated. This is why part of our struggle has worked to put the capacity to produce and reproduce life for ourselves, in our own hands. This explains the advent of Black Star Industries, its name an acknowledgment of the legacy of Marcus Garvey, and our non-profit, the African People’s Education and Defense Fund (APEDF).
Time and again the Party has proven it is unafraid to take matters into its own hands and sow the seeds of our liberation through revolution.
The work that this Party and Chairman Omali Yeshitela have done over the last 50 years and more is the basis for any and all attacks initiated by the colonial State itself or any of its iterations.
Our efforts have resulted in a weakened, dying colonial-capitalist system. Our task in the face of violent State attacks is to double-down, recommit and carry our struggle to its successful conclusion.
